Minutes after Union Railway Minister Sadananda Gowda presented the first Railway Budget of the Bharatiya Janata Party led National Democratic Alliance government in Parliament, Trinamool Congress chairperson and State’s Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee reacted with anguish describing it as “deprivation and humiliation” by the Centre.

“So much deprivation and humiliation, has anyone seen it before,” Ms. Banerjee broke out in verses on her facebook profile,

“West Bengal has been deprived and humiliated by the new government at the Centre,” she went on to say.

Addressing a rally in the State’s Hooghly district later in the day, Ms. Banerjee said that the people had voted for the NDA government only because they were upset with the Congress led United Progressive Alliance government.

“There was alternative in Tamil Nadu and West Bengal and so the people have voted for other parties,” she said, emphasising the need for a Federal Front.

Before the Lok Sabha polls the Trinamool Congress chairperson had proposed a non- Congress non-BJP federal front.

“ I will have to raise my voice if the my State is deprived,” Ms. Banerjee said . She reiterated the NDA government has deprived the State of its rights and prestige.
