Nearly twenty days after the National Investigation Agency (NIA) filed its charge sheet in connection with Burdwan blast concluding that there has was large conspiracy by the Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen, Bangladesh (JMB), another member of JMB was arrested by security agencies at Pakur in Jharkhand.
The arrested accused Ibrahim Sheikh alias Lal Mohammed, a resident of Nabogram area of State’s Murshidabad district and is a Shura member of JMB Indian wing, NIA officials said.
“He was produced before a court which remanded him to police custody till April 22. Teams from NIA from Kolkata and Murshidabad along with Pakur police are interrogating him,” Pakur SP Anup Birthare told The Hindu on Monday.
According to investigating agencies, Ibrahim Sheikh was the in charge of Fatimatul Mukimnagar Madarsa which is closely associated with JMB. The Madrasa was closed and sealed by West Bengal police after Burdwan blast on October 2, 2014.
In its charge sheet filed by NIA on March 30 the investigating agency had said that JMB, a proscribed terrorist organisation had hatched a conspiracy to overthrow the democratic government in Bangladesh through violent terrorist acts.
