In their second attack on security forces in the last three days, the Maoists attacked a patrol party of the Border Security Force (BSF) in Kanker district of Chhattisgarh and killed one BSF head constable.
According to Kanker Superintendent of Police (SP) Jitendra Meena, Maoists opened firing hardly 500 meters away from the BSF camp based in Chhote Betiya town late night on Sunday.
“The BSF team was a part of peripheral patrolling team of the camp. BSF jawans retaliated the fire, however, BSF head constable Ramesh Kumar Solanki sustained three bullet injuries in the encounter,” informed Mr. Meena.
The injured jawan was rushed to Bande hospital where he was declared “brought dead”.
A search operation was launched in the area after the encounter where BSF men recovered one dead body of a suspected Maoist and three IEDs.
