Army troops recovered a body trapped in a heap of snow triggered by an avalanche three months ago in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday evening even as efforts were on to extricate two more, police said on Wednesday.

Rashtriya Rifle (RR) troops launched an operation and recovered the body of a 60-year-old villager identified as Ghulam Haider of Kathua district from under the heap of snow in Chatergala area of Doda district, they said.

Efforts are on to trace the bodies of his wife Saja Begum and son Gulistan also.

The trio were travelling on foot from Doda bordering to Kathua district’s Vermote area to Bhaderwah, around 230 kms from here, when they were buried under an avalanche enroute at Chatergala on February 2, officials said.
