Two days after Congress ally Bodoland Peoples Front (BPF) threatened to support opposition parties in the second phase of Assam assembly poll, chief minister Tarun Gogoi on Saturday described them as “our best friends“.
“Our alliance with the BPF is going to continue as they are the members of the same family. They will never go against us”, Mr. Gogoi told reporters at the Congress headquarter Rajiv Bhavan here.
“Our relationship (with BPF) is very cordial and this is an example for the whole country”, Mr. Gogoi said while ruling out any post-poll alliance with the minority dominated All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF).
“We do not have any secret understanding with the AIUDF as reported in the media and its chief Badaruddin Ajmal has not been promised the post of deputy chief ministership”, the chief minister said.
BPF chief Hagrama Mohilary had made a frontal attack on the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Bhubaneswar Kalita for criticising his Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) administration and threatened to come out of the alliance and support anti-Congress parties in the second phase of polling.
A former militant, Hagrama accused Kalita of criticising the BPF without knowing the development works undertaken by the BPF in the BTC area.
