Senior BJP leader Ajay Bhatt on Wednesday sought the immediate resignation of Minister Harak Singh Rawat as a case of molestation and criminal intimidation had been registered against him by a woman in Delhi.
“The controversy has put the people of Uttarakhand to shame and Mr. Rawat should immediately resign on moral grounds till his name was cleared by the police or a court”, Mr. Bhatt said adding that the Chief Minister Harish Rawat should sack the tainted Minister if he did not step down voluntarily.
Describing the Congress regime as a total failure on all fronts, Mr. Bhatt reiterated the party’s earlier demand for a CBI probe into the disbursement of huge subsidies under the poly-house promotion scheme of National Horticulture Mission by Minister Amrita Rawat when she was the Horticulture Minister in the Vijay Bahuguna Government last year to her husband Satpal Maharaj MP from Pauri, her son and some other relatives.
Mr. Bhatt said the mere change of the Chief Minister by the Congress did not seem to be working to improve the functioning of the Government as Mr. Harish Rawat had failed to allocate portfolios to his Cabinet colleagues even 26 days after taking oath. The delay in allocation of portfolios was seriously hampering development activity and it would be good if Mr. Harish Rawat put an end to internal rifts and allocated the portfolios before it was too late.
