Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has said steps have been initiated to hand over the management of public distribution system (PDS) to Primary Agriculture Cooperative Societies (PACS).

“Since all works of villages and farmers will be under the purview of PACS for implementation and surveillance, it will be better to give them the additional responsibility to avoid irregularities,” Mr. Kumar said while inaugurating All India Cooperative Week here on Sunday.

“We have initiated steps in this regard,” he said.

Mr. Kumar reiterated his stand for holding elections to the Sakisha Samities in Bihar and said the state election authority would be doing the needful in this connection.
