The Ayodhya Jama Masjid Trust, a body set up by a group of Muslims at Ayodhya, has initiated fresh negotiations with the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and associated Hindu organisations to resolve the Ramjanmabhoomi-Babri Masjid dispute.
The managing trustee of the organisation, Allama Syed Asghar Abbas Rizvi, told newspersons today that he had been invited to a meeting of the VHP Margdarshak Mandal at Karsewak Puram in Ayodhya on December 26 where he would discuss the issue on behalf of the Muslims of Ayodhya.
He said various Muslim organisations had assured him of their cooperation.
The objective of the trust was to construct a new Jama Masjid besides solving the dispute over the demolished mosque.
The formula prepared by Mr. Rizvi includes withdrawal of the claim on behalf of Muslims in the Ayodhya title suit pending in the Allahabad High Court. Once Mohd. Hashim and Nirmohi Akhara, original parties to the case, do so the provisions of the ‘Acquisition of Certain Area at Ayodhya Act,’ as passed by Parliament in 1993, could be implemented, paving the way for construction of the Ram Temple at the disputed site.
