Award for M.S. Prabhakara

Veteran journalist and former Special Correspondent of The Hindu and Frontline in South Africa and northeast India M. S. Prabhakara has been selected for the Siva Prasad Barooah National Award for Journalism for 2011. This was announced by the Kamal Kumari Foundation here.

Professor Krishna Joshi has been selected for the Kamal Kumari National Award for Science and Technology. Eminent theatre personality Heisnam Kanhailal has been nominated for the Kamal Kumari National Award for Art and Culture. Each of the awards carries a cash prize of Rs. 2 lakh, a citation and a trophy. Painter Siva Prasad Marar has been nominated for the Amit Barooah Award for Painting and Sculpture. This award carries an amount of Rs. 1 lakh, a citation and a trophy.

The award ceremony will be held on November 24 at the Rabindra Bhavan here. Renowned social anthropologist Annada Charan Bhagawati will deliver the 13th Kamal Kumari Memorial Lecture.
