The Nagpur bench of Bombay High Court on Thursday granted 15-day parole to the underworld don turned politician Arun Gawli to attend his son’s wedding.
Gawali, who is serving life term in Nagpur central jail for the murder of Shiv Sena corporator Kamlakar Jamsandekar, had applied for the parole to Nagpur Divisional Commissioner to attend his son Mahesh’s wedding at Mumbai on May 9.
However, the Divisional Commissioner refused permission to Gawali who moved the High Court against the Divisional Commissioner’s order.
“The High Court observed that there are no substantial grounds to prove that Gawali would indulge in anti-social activities during his parole period,” Advocate Nagman Ali who represented Gawali along with advocate Anil Mardikar in the court, told reporters in Nagpur.
However, the underworld don turned politician would have to mark his attendance every second day in Agripada police station in Mumbai during his parole period, ordered the High Court.
