Arrest warrant against Bihar MLA accused of raping minor

An arrest warrant was issued on Saturday against a ruling Rashtriya Janata Dal MLA, who was accused of kidnapping and raping a school girl.

The MLA from the Nawada constituency is said to be absconding.

A school girl, 15, has filed a complaint with the Nalanda police accusing the MLA, Rajballabh Yadav, of abduction and rape. The incident happened on February 6 while the FIR was lodged on February 9.

Shalin, Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Central range, told The Hindu : “I had asked the Nalanda police to investigate the case and I found it to be true. Based on the complaint and the circumstantial evidence, I have issued an arrest order against the accused MLA from Nawada.”

The RJD MLA, 54, who is known as the bahubali (strongman) of Nawada, is said to be absconding. “We will arrest him soon,” said the police official. The police said the girl was taken to the MLA’s house by a woman to attend a birthday party on February 6. The woman was given Rs. 30,000 by the MLA, the girl alleged in her complaint. The Nalanda police have arrested the woman.
