Army busts militant hideout near Srinagar in J&K

Army today busted a militant hideout in Dachigam area on the outskirts of the city and recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition, official sources said.

Army troops launched a search operation in the forests of Dachigam near Harwan, 25 km from Srinagar, and busted the militant hideout, they said.

The search led to the recovery of a 60 mm mortar, an AK assault rifle, 18 grenades, 11 TNT slabs used in improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and a .303 rifle.

Other recoveries included five radio sets, one GPS, one telescopic sight, 32 AK magazines, four pistol magazines, one LMG magazine, 645 rounds of AK ammunition and nine rounds of sniper rifle, they said.

No arrests have been made in connection with the recovery, they added.
