Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Anandiben Patel was sworn in as the Governor of Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday.

Madhya Pradesh High Court Chief Justice Hemant Gupta administered the Oath of Office to the former Gujarat Chief Minister at a ceremony held at the Raj Bhavan here.

Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and his cabinet colleagues were among the leaders present at the ceremony.

Earlier, Chief Secretary Basant Pratap Singh read out the warrant of appointment issued by President Ram Nath Kovind appointing Ms. Patel.

Ramnaresh Yadav had retired from the gubernatorial post in Madhya Pradesh in September 2016 and Gujarat Governor Om Prakash Kohli was holding additional charge of the State.
