Amid vedic chanting Bihar ministers assume office

Vedic hymns were chanted and coconuts broken as several Bihar ministers today assumed charge after being sworn in on Friday in the 30-member Nitish Kumar cabinet.

Health minister Ashwini Kumar Choubey told reporters that he would work for evolving a novel health policy for the poor.

He said his department would also ensure treatment of patients at the government hospitals across the state through allopathy, pranayam, yoga or ayurved and unani.

He said his department would make sincere efforts to ‘make a healthy Bihar’.

Minister for Transport and Information and Public Relations Department, Brishen Patel said he would concentrate on reaching welfare and development initiatives taken by the present government to the people.

He said he would also work for improving the revenue of the transport department.

Road Construction Minister Nand Kishore Yadav said his priority would be to link all the parts of the state with good roads by 2015.

Efforts would be made for upkeep and repair of the national highways in the State, Mr. Yadav said.
