An Allahabad University student has allegedly threatened his classmate with "delhi gang-rape consequences" after she rejected his advances.

The threats were issued through an email said Professor Rajul Mathur,a faculty member, adding that the "infatuated" boy harassed the girl on social networking sites. However, there were no reports of any physical approach.

The girl had approached the University's Women Advisory Board with a complaint.

While the higher authorities are mulling over punishing the boy, most likely through suspension, they said he would get a chance to redeem himself.

The identities of the students have not been disclosed. To recall, in September, a second year student of the university beat up an eve teaser and set his bike on fire.

Meanwhile, on Saturday, a Mahila Jan Sansad protesting atrocities against women, initiated by the Allahabad University and comprising women of all walks of life was held at the Chandra Shekhar Azad Park here.

The proposals adopted would be sent to the centre, state governments and the Justice Verma Commission, Ranjana Kakkar, the chairman of the University's Women Advisory Board said in an email.
