: Metro commuters can now use regular Smart Cards for travelling in Airport Metro.

By integrating the automatic fair collection system, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has allowed passengers to use regular Smart Cards for travelling in Airport Metro, operation of which was taken over by the DMRC from Reliance Infra two years ago.

Delhi Metro spokesperson Anuj Dayal said the facility has been started on a trial basis. “The system would be launched formally after assessing the response during the trial period. It would help in integrating the Airport Metro with other lines of the Metro network,” he said.

Several commuters living in Dwarka sub-city use the Airport line to travel to Central Delhi as it takes lesser time to reach Connaught Place from Dwarka compared to the Yellow Line.

The Airport Line is integrated with the Yellow Line at the interchange station Dwarka sector 21.
