Ahead of the Assembly elections due next year, the former Bihar Chief Minister and ruling party Janata Dal (United) leader Nitish Kumar has planned to embark on a 17-day “sampark [contact] yatra” from November 12 to apprise people of how the BJP ‘betrayed’ the State by not giving it special status.
The JD(U) leader will begin his yatra from West Champaran district, like on many earlier occasions, and cover at least two districts in a day.
It will be completed on November 29. Recently, Mr. Kumar was in Delhi to participate in a function to mark the birth anniversary of the first Chief Minister of the State, Sri Krishna Singh.
During his trip he met RJD chief Lalu Prasad, who is recuperating from heart surgery, and discussed the political situation in the State and the coming elections.
The JD(U) and RJD had joined hands after their crushing defeat in the last Lok Sabha poll to form a grand alliance along with the Congress.
