The authorities on Tuesday evening said it is lifting the blockade on mobile telephony for post-aid customers in Kashmir valley, 16 days after it was barred to contain situation in the wake of >killing of militant commander Burhan Wani .
A police spokesman said in Srinagar said, "All post-paid mobile services were being restored tonight".
However, it had no word on the internet services and pre-paid mobiles, which constitutes the bulk of cellphone users. Internet services and mobile telephony was suspended immediately after Wani was killed in an encounter on July 8. First, mobile services were withdrawn and later internet connection was downed across Kashmir Valley.
The move comes in the backdrop of growing public pressure to restore connectivity in Kashmir valley as many families remain cut-off from each other for more than two weeks now.
Meanwhile, barred internet services in winter capital Jammu was restarted on Monday.
