Advancing Arunachal State polls pays off for Congress

The ruling Congress is heading for a third consecutive term in Arunachal Pradesh with a clean sweep in the Assembly polls. The party has already won 39 seats in the 60-member House and is leading in three seats.

The BJP has won five seats and is leading in four seats while the People’s Party of Arunachal has won three seats and is leading in two. An Independent candidate has won one seat. Status of three seats is still awaited.

At the time of going to print, of the total 60 seats, results had been declared for 48. Congress had won 39, BJP had won five, the PPA three and an Independent had won one.
