AAP office vandalised in Gujarat

August 19, 2016 02:36 am | Updated 02:36 am IST - AHMEDABAD:

The Aam Admi Party's Gujarat unit office here was vandalised and ransacked by unidentified miscreants on Wednesday. Subsequently, one social group Brahmin Padkar Group has claimed responsibility of vandalising the AAP office in Ahmedabad after an APP leader allegedly made some derogatory remarks on Brahmin community.

A group of around 8-10 people entered the office and went on rampage, breaking windowpanes, damaging computers and office furniture in Ganesh Plaza building where AAP shifted its State office recently.

The AAP's Gujarat unit has lodged a police complaint for attack on its office but no arrest has yet been made by the cops.

Meanwhile, AAP’s media coordinator Harshil Naik alleged that “people connected with BJP” attacked their office after Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kajriwal warned the BJP government in Gujarat to stop atrocities on Dalits or face consequences in the Assembly polls next year.

“The way AAP’s base is growing in Gujarat, the BJP feels threatened so it uses its proxy to hit a AAP,” Mr. Naik said.
