Time to shake off NCP from Pimpri-Chinchwad: Fadnavis

Pune: Kicking-off the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) campaign for the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) polls, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis urged BJP leaders and activists to focus on improving technological capabilities of the area and regenerate its transport service.

Dismissing the NCP’s claims that the PCMC was “a civic marvel”, Mr. Fadnavis claimed the BJP took the first step to check the alleged illegal constructions in the area. He also mentioned the speedy sanctioning of the development plan (DP) for Tathawade in the PCMC limits, and stated that a plan to link Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad would be carried out once the party comes to power in the PCMC.

The BJP is riding on the defections of NCP heavyweights from the area, which began with Laxman Jagtap in 2014, followed by Bhosari MLA Mahesh Landge, Ajit Pawar’s right-hand man Yashwant Bhosale, and former Pimpri-Chinchwad Mayor Azam Pansare.
