AHMEDABAD: The alleged involvement of BJP leaders in the Kutch sex racket, and clashes between cops and farmers in the industrial hub Sanand on Tuesday, have put the State government and the ruling BJP in a fix.
The Congress will continue to corner the State government on the two issues ahead of the Assembly session, which begins from February 20.
In a bid to push the ruling party to the wall, the Congress and the Aam Aadmi party (AAP) have been organising protests over the sex racket for more than a week.
On Wednesday, the women wing of the Congress held protests at the residence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mother, over the issue of alleged gang rape of a 23-year-old woman by BJP leaders in Kutch.
Gujarat Congress president Lilaben Patel said, “As Gujarat Chief Minister Mr. Modi had told all women to write a letter to him if they are in trouble. Now, people of his own party in involved in running a sex racket. We want his mother to intervene and ensure justice.”
The party has also announced a yatra from Naliya in Kutch to Gandhinagar. Congress leader Ahmed Patel tweeted on Wednesday, “Gujarat law and order has gone from bad to worse. Hope the State government pulls up its socks.”
