Four Naxals held for looting explosive laden truck in Chhatisgarh

Four Naxals were arrested today for allegedly looting explosives from a truck in Bastar district three months ago, while hunt is on for nine others involved in the case, police said.

Police had received information about Naxal activities in Khadpadi and Kormel forest areas following which a police team was sent to the place, Superintendent of Police, Bastar, P Sundarraj said.

After learning about police’s arrival, the outlaws fled but we managed to nab four persons - Lachnu Baghel, Santuram, Charan Kashyap, and Lakhmu Sodhi, he said adding that the arrested accused carried a reward of Rs. 4,000 on their head.

Mr. Sundarraj said the accused had looted a truck carrying ammonium nitrate in May from NH-43 and distributed the explosives at various places.

Nine others involved in the incident are absconding, he added.
