2 women killed, 1 tortured over dowry in UP

A 26-year-old woman was allegedly killed over dowry by her husband and in-laws in Sakroli area of the district, police said.

The victim, Kamlesh’s brother Ramveer has alleged in his complaint that his sister got married to Dushyant 6 years ago and was often harassed and tortured over demand for dowry, SHO Sakroli Jitendra Kumar said.

Kamlesh’s body was found at Dushyant’s residence on Thursday, he said, adding that Dushyant and his family members have been missing since then.

An FIR has been against the husband and the in-laws in this connection but no arrests have been made so far, Kumar said.

In similar incidents, FIRs were lodged in two cases yesterday on the order of the district court, police said.

Bandana, resident of Rajepur Farrukhabad was allegedly tortured and set ablaze by her husband, Dinesh and his family members on March 24. An FIR was lodged yesterday against 7 persons, SHO Jaithera Kailash Dubey said.

In another case, wife of a UP police constable alleged that her husband along with others tortured and attacked her with acid over dowry demand. FIR has been registered against 5 persons in Kotwali Pilua yesterday, police said.

No arrests have been made in any of the cases so far.
