13 traders detained for selling salt at exorbitant price

Thirteen traders have been detained in Darjeeling district for selling salt at exorbitant prices, police sources said on Saturday.

Eleven traders have been detained in Darjeeling town and two in Kalimpong, the sources said.

Food and Supplies department sources in Darjeeling said there was no shortage of salt in the district.

The Superintendent of Police of Darjeeling Kunal Agarwal had on Friday met the distributors and retailers to take stock of the situation.

On Friday, following rumours of salt shortage panicked people rushed to shops to buy salt.
