A local court here acquitted 11 persons owing to lack of evidence in a case related to communal riots in Odisha’s Kandhamal district.

Additional District Judge Phulbani Rajendra Kumar Tosh on Wednesday acquitted all the 11 arrested in connection with the murder of Gopan Nayak on September 9, 2008.

They faced charges ranging from rioting and arson to unlawful assembly with arms under the IPC.
