An Indian Air Force aircraft arrived here on Monday with the second consignment of about 30 tonnes of relief assistance.

The consignment — comprising dry rations (sugar and pulses), ready-to-eat meals, milk powder, mattresses and water purification kits and tablets — was handed over to the Sri Lankan Ministry of Disaster Management.

On January 15, High Commissioner in Sri Lanka Ashok K. Kantha and Sri Lankan Minister of Economic Development Basil Rajapaksa visited Batticaloa and participated in the distribution of the first consignment of relief material to the flood-affected people.
