The Supreme Court collegium of Judges headed by Chief Justice of India P. Sathasivam has recommended mass transfer and elevation of various High Court judges.
Sources in the Law Ministry said the recommendations received will be processed and the transfers would come into effect in two to three weeks.
Following the proposed elevation of Chief Justice of the Orissa High Court S. Nagappan to the Supreme Court, Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court Adarsh Kumar Goel (60) is being shifted to the Orissa High Court as its Chief Justice.
Similarly, in the place of Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court Shiva Kirti Singh, who is being elevated as a Judge of the Supreme Court, senior-most Judge of the Bombay High Court Dhananjaya Y. Chandrachud (54) is being elevated as Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court.
Chief Justice of the Himachal Pradesh High Court Ajay Manikrao Khanwilkar (56) is being shifted to the Madhya Pradesh High Court as its Chief Justice.
Chief Justice of the Manipur High Court Abhay Manohar Sapre (59) is being transferred as Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court.
Senior-most Judge of the Allahabad High Court Laxmi Kanta Mohapatra (59) is being elevated as Chief Justice of the Manipur High Court.
Justice Satish K. Agnihotri, senior-most Judge of the Chhattisgarh High Court (57), is being transferred as a Judge of the Madras High Court.
Senior Judge of the Karnataka High Court K. Sreedhar Rao is being shifted as a Judge of the Gauhati High Court.
Senior-most Judge of the Jammu and Kashmir High Court Mansoor Ahmad Mir is being transferred to the Himachal Pradesh High Court.
Senior-most Judge of the Rajasthan High Court Justice Narendra Kumar Jain is being shifted to the Sikkim High Court and senior-most Judge of the Gauhati High Court Iqbal Ahmed Anasari is being shifted to the Patna High Court.
