Fire fighters try to douse the fire at the Akriti Trade Centre in Mumbai’s Andheri area on Friday night.

A major fire broke out at a commercial complex housing a number of corporate offices in the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) area in suburban Andheri late Friday evening.

The fire started at a canteen located on the sixth floor of Akruti Trade Centre and soon spread on the seventh floor, according to chief fire officer H.N. Mujawar.

No casualties were reported in the incident, he said, adding 15 fire tenders were rushed to douse the flames.

Even though the exact cause of the fire was not known, fire brigade officials said that a short-circuit could have triggered the blaze.

Efforts are on to bring the fire under control.
