Women, Dalits marginalised in State: Brinda

May 13, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:47 am IST - ALAPPUZHA:

CPI(M) leader Brinda Karat said on Thursday that security of women had been given least priority by the United Democratic Front (UDF) government in Kerala.

Addressing a meet-the-press programme here, she said women and Dalits were marginalised by the government’s policies.

Referring to the murder of a Dalit woman in Perumbavoor, she said it was a case of systemic failure.

Another woman was murdered recently at Haripad where Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala was a candidate in the Assembly elections.

The culprits were at large in both the cases. The Home Minister has a lot to answer in both the episodes, she said.
