The mobility hub at Puzhakkal will become a reality soon with KINFRA handing over around 10 acres of land to the Thissur Mobility Hub Society.

Manager of the society and District Collector M.S. Jaya received the related documents at a meeting convened by Chief Secretary Jiji Thomson in Thiruvananthapuram.

The land has been given on lease for 99 years.

Though the government had declared the mobility hub at Puzhakkal three years ago, the project got delayed due to technical issues related to handing over the land. The meeting appreciated the efforts of Ms. Jaya to speed up the procedures.

The mobility hub will be set up in private-public participation. KITCO will be the consultancy for the project. The meeting decided to call for the tender without any delay.

The hub will have a bus stand, parking facilities, shopping complex, office building and residence complexes. Commercial space has been included to ensure private participation.

The hub is expected to ease the traffic congestion in the city. The hub is planned in the model of Vyttila hub in Kochi. Connecting roads to the hub will also be set up.

There has been demand for starting city bus service once the mobility hub becomes a reality. The town bus can connect the hub with the Sakthan stand, north stand and municipal stand.

The buses coming from Kozhikode, Guruvayur, Thriprayar, Kanjani and Vadanappilly can directly go to the hub, thus decongesting the city.
