There has been a marked decline in suspected cases of dengue and malaria over the last 10 days in the district, even as the graph of viral fever cases, reported usually during the monsoon, showed a steady increase.
Kasaragod, which reported five fatal cases of dengue in June, did not report many cases of dengue and malaria over the last few days, District Medical Officer A.P. Dinesh Kumar said.
800 to 900 patients
However, the hospitals across the district were reporting patients in the range of 800 to 900 every day with symptoms of viral fever, he said. The general hospital here, in particular, witnessed heavy rush of fever patients on Monday, as the hospital alone had the facility in the district to confirm cases of dengue, the DMO added.
Unlike other districts in the State, Kasaragod had so far not reported even a single case of diphtheria, the DMO said.
