S. Pavamani dead

Film producer and distributor S. Pavamani died at a private hospital here on Tuesday.

He was 78 and is survived by wife Sherly, son Prathap and daughter Sheeba.

Born in 1932, Mr. Pavamani started distributing Hindi movies under the banner of Sheeba Films from1959. He had the honour of bringing home popular movies like Mere Jeevan Saathi , Aradhana , Haathi Mere Saathi and Ganga Jumna .

He had also distributed more than 100 Malayalam films, including A. Vincent's Chenda , M.T's Nirmalyam and I.V. Sasi's Avalude Raavukal . Mr. Pavamani became the founder general secretary of All Kerala Distributors Association in 1978.

He had donned the role of a producer in 1975 and went on to make films like Ayodhya , Ayiram Janmangal, Aparadhi, Vilakkum Velichavum, Ponnum Poovum, Kaliyil Alpam Karyam and Uyarangalil under the banner of Prathapchithra Films.
