The controversy over the environment clearance for the apartment project of the DLF Group at Chilavannoor is likely to be discussed at the next meeting of the Kerala Coastal Zone Management Authority (KCZMA).
The project was given green signal by the KCZMA even when it had appointed a subcommittee to look into the allegations of CRZ violations by the builder. The subcommittee failed to meet as one of its members was out of the country. The demand for reconstituting the committee, considering the long absence of a committee member, was not considered by the authority officials despite repeated reminders, sources said. The issue of overlooking the committee in case of mega projects such as this and reported fudging of some of the decisions of the KCZMA would be raised at the next meeting of the committee scheduled for June 26.
