Governor P. Sathasivam has called for a campaign to take the message of biodiversity conservation to all sections of society.

At a function held at Raj Bhavan on Thursday as part of World Environment Day, he said conservation was the responsibility of every citizen. “It is not enough to plant saplings. Protecting them is equally important,” he said. He exhorted the public to avoid plastic since it contaminates soil, water, and air. He planted a jackfruit sapling on the premises and distributed vegetable seed kits. Agriculture Minister V.S. Sunil Kumar and Agricultural Production Commissioner Subrato Biswas were present.
