Prathidhwani, a socio-cultural organisation of Technopark employees, has begun a signature campaign demanding an efficient and detailed probe into the brutal murder of Infosys employee Rasila Raju and proper security to women employees by Information Technology (IT) companies. Following the campaign, the organisation will submit their demands to the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister.

The demands include calls to make it mandatory for all companies to conduct strict background verification of all kinds of employees to avoid violence and harassment against women employees. Women complaint cells have to be made mandatory in all companies to collect complaints from women employees.

Audit mechanism

There should be an audit mechanism to check regularly if it is working properly. Off time and/or overtime work of women should be allowed only in the presence of management such as HR manager or project manager on the premises. Adequate safety measures and safe transportation have to be assured for all women employees who are serving late hours.

A grievance cell should be formed by the government under the Labour Department. The government should conduct a detailed study of the current security arrangements to women employees in IT firms.

The signature campaign will end on March 10.
