Murder of SDPI worker: five more arrested

The police have arrested five more persons, including three prime accused, in connection with the murder of a Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) worker, Zainul Abid, 24, here on December 22.

A team led by Kasaragod Dy.SP T.P. Ranjith arrested Varun Kumar, 27, Anil Kumar, 24, Hareesh, 27, Abhishek, 24, and another person on Tuesday night.

The police claimed the first three allegedly committed the murder and the others helped them in the crime.

The arrested were charged under IPC Sections 302 (murder) and 120-b (conspiracy). They were remanded in judicial custody by a local court. The police had earlier arrested seven persons in connection with the case.
