The district administration has received 8,500 petitions for the Chief Minister’s mass contact programme here on June 4.

Friday was the last day for registering petitions.

The petitions were received at a special cell at the District Collectorate, sorted out and then forwarded to respective departments. The heads of departments have been asked to take action on the petitions and submit reports to the Collector. After the Collector’s scrutiny, the reports will be sent to a district-level monitoring committee, chaired by Cooperation Minister C.N. Balakrishnan. Petitions that are not addressed by the monitoring committee will be taken up by the Chief Minister. District Collector M. S. Jaya has directed the staff of various departments to solve in a time-bound manner issues raised by the petitions.

The petitions registered from Saturday will be considered along with those received by the Chief Minister at the programme. The petitions were registered online with the District Collectorate, taluk offices and Akshaya centres.

The heads of departments have been asked to take action on the petitions and submit reports to the Collector.
