The CPI(M)-led Left Democratic Front (LDF) in Kerala will meet this Saturday to decide on whether to take back in its fold a breakaway faction of Kerala Congress (Joseph).

The meeting will also decide whether to induct K. Surendran Pillai, the MLA from the grouping, as a minister in the Cabinet.

This was stated by LDF Convenor Vaikam Viswan, who is here to attend the party Central Committee meeting.

?We are meeting on May 8 to decide on the issue,? he told reporters here.

The CPI(M) Polit Bureau is understood to have given its green signal to the state unit to induct the breakaway faction led by former MP P.C. Thomas in the LDF.

The Kerala Congress (Joseph) was in the LDF till last week but its leader P.J. Joseph, who was the PWD Minister in the government, decided to merge his party with Kerala Congress (Mani), which is a coalition partner of the Opposition UDF.
