Union Minister of State for Agriculture, K.V. Thomas, will inaugurate a Santhigiri Ayurveda and Siddha Hospital at Chandiroor here on Saturday to mark the completion of three years of the ‘Chandiroor Siddha Village’ project.

Announcing this at a press conference here on Friday, Santhigiri Medical Services officials said the Siddha Village project was launched in 2006 by the then Union Health Minister Anbumani Ramdoss to offer free medical care to around 3,450 poor families in Chandiroor, the birthplace of Santhigiri Ashram founder Karunakara Guru.

The hospital that will be opened on Saturday will have out-patient and ‘panchakarma’ treatment facilities apart from other healthcare infrastructure, including a pathology lab.

The project as a whole is part of ‘Karunyam’, a national healthcare programme conceived by Santhigiri Ashram in association with Santhigiri Siddha Medical College and the Santhigiri Healthcare and Research Organization.
