The Kerala Kalamandalam fellowship, awards and endowments for 2016 were declared here on Friday.

Kathakali maestro Sadanam Balakrishnan has been selected for the Kalamandalam Fellowship, which carries a cash prize of ₹50,000, a memento, certificate, and ponnada.

Actor and dancer Manju Warrier has been selected for the M.K.K. Nair Puraskaram that consists of a cash prize of ₹30,000, memento, and a certificate.

Dancer Sunanda Nair won the Kalarathnam Puraskaram. It consists of a purse of ₹10,000, a memento and a certificate. G.S. Paul has won the Mukunda Raja Smrithi Puraskaram, which carries a purse of ₹10,000, a memento and a certificate.

Kottakkal Nandakumaran Nair (Kathakali Vesham), Kalamandalam M. Gopalakrishnan (Kathakali Music), Kalanilayam Kunjunni (Chenda), Kalamandalam Kutti Narayanan (Maddalam), Kalamandalam Satheeshan (Chutty), Peringode Chandran (Thimila), Kalamandalam Sreedevi (dance), Kalamandalam Balachandran (Thullal), Kalamandalam V. Achuthanandan (Mizhavu), Kalamandalam P. Krishnakumar (Mrudangam), and Mani Damodara Chakyar (Koodiyattom). Margi Sathi has been selected for the award posthumously.

The Kalamandalam awards carry ₹30,000 as cash prize, a memento, and a certificate.

Njayath Balan’s Kalluvazhichittayude Kavalal has won the award for the best art book and Rajan Karimoola’s Shivam, the best documentary award.

Kalamandalam Sangeetha Prasad has won the Dr. V.S. Sarma Endowment and Kalamandalam Sooraj, the Young Talent Award. Kalamandalam K. Kanakakumar has been selected for the Painkulam Ramachakyar Memorial Award.

Kalamandalam Sreeja Viswom (Vadakkan Kannan Nair Asan Memorial Award), Kalamandalam Hari R. Nair (Bhagavathar Kunjunni Thampuran Endowment) and Ambalapuzha Suresh Varma (K.S. Divakar Nair Memorial Sougandhiga Award) are the other winners.

The awards will be presented at a function to be held at the Koothambalam of the Kerala Kalamandalam, Cheruthuruthy, on November 9.

Culture Secretary Rani George will present the awards.
