Five of family found dead

A five-member family, including three children, were found dead at Kechery, near here, on Friday night.

According to preliminary investigation, Johny Joseph, 48, slaughtered his wife Soma, 34, and children Anson, 11, Ashlin, 9, and Aan Maria, 7, before consuming poison to kill himself. The police suspect that Johny gave poison to his wife and children before slitting their throat.

He was running a stationery shop at Kechery. Johny’s friend who reached his residence on Friday found blood stains under the door. He along with neighbours broke open the house and found the bodies in a pool of blood. The bodies were lying in three different rooms in the house.

It is suspected that financial liabilities forced the family to take the extreme step. They had shifted their residence from Kozhikode to Kechery only a year ago.
