Fire in Korba Express, services getting normal

The train services on Ernakulam-Kottayam-Thiruvananthapuram stretch were delayed on Friday afternoon, as the Thiruvananthapuram bound Korba Express was halted near Kuruppanthara after hit by a spark in the loco pilot’s cabin.

According to authorities in Railways here, Korba Express developed an engine failure following a spark.

As a result of the accident, the Ettumanur-Kuruppanthara section remained dead for over two-and-a-half hours.

This affected the services of over nine trains, including the Thiruvananthapuram-bound Kerala Express.

The incident occurred by 2 p.m. and the trains resumed service after 4.30 p.m., according to sources in the Railways.
