A Kerala youth courted trouble by posting his engagement on the social networking website Facebook.

A 29—year—old man, who posted about his engagement on his Facebook account, has landed in trouble as his former girlfriend registered a complaint against him for allegedly raping her on the pretext of marriage.

M. Shameer from nearby Koorachundu was arrested two days ago after a woman from the same place complained that she had been allegedly sexually exploited by him on the pretext of marriage.

Police said the woman was shocked when she saw the post in which Shameer had announced his engagement with another woman.

The woman then went to Shameer’s house and created a scene and when police arrived, she filed a complaint against him, police said.

Shameer was charged under IPC section 376 for rape, produced before a magistrate and remanded to 14 days judicial custody, police said.
