The Communist Party of India (Marxist) district committee will take out a march to the ADGP office in Kozhikode demanding action against Congress leaders who forcefully released three accused from police custody on Friday morning.

At a press meet here on Saturday, CPI(M) district secretary C.K. Saseendran said Kalpetta block panchayat president K. Anilkumar, Youth Congress mandalam president Salim Rattakkolly, and Thariyode grama panchayat member A. Shibu were arrested from their houses early on Friday in connection with an attack on Abdul Saleem, Assistant Executive Engineer, Kalpetta block panchayat, on May 18.

Though the accused were forcefully released from police custody by a mob led by I.C. Balakrishnan, MLA, and Congress district president K.L. Poulose, the police were yet to register any case against them, he said.

The police should register cases against the Congress leaders, Mr. Saseendran said.
