The Cabinet on Wednesday approved the 22 proposed stations for the metro rail in Kochi.
They are Aluwa, Pulinchodu, Companypadi, Ambattukadavu, Muttam, Kalamassery, Cochin University, Pathadippalam, Edappally, Changanpuzha Park, Palarivattom, Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Kaloor, Lissy, MG Road, Maharaja’s College, Ernakulam South, Kadavanthra, Elamkulam, Vytilla, Thykoodam, and Petta.
Rain relief
The Cabinet decided to grant Rs.1.5 lakh each to the families of 17 persons who had died in monsoon-related accidents. Rs.1 lakh each would be given persons whose houses were destroyed. Up to Rs.35,000 would be given in case of damage.
Chief Minister Oommen Chandy told the media that the Cabinet had discussed the monsoon-related calamities and directed urgent relief measures. Two weeks’ free rations would be provided to persons who had been displaced by sea erosion.
To be nominated
Mr. Chandy said the State would nominate the Director of Centre for Water Resources Development and Management, Kozhikode, and Director of Department of Climate Change to the Central Wetlands Regulatory Authority.
The pay scales of executive staff of Steel Industrials Kerala would be revised. Financial benefits would accrue to them from April 2012.
The salaries of staff of State Bamboo Corporation and technical staff and office staff of Bamboo Board would be revised with effect from April 2010.
As part of the Budget announcement to sanction colleges in constituencies without a college, new colleges would be set up at Kondotty and Mangad.
The Cabinet had also sanctioned 23 teaching posts in economics and four in commerce for the government colleges which were sanctioned new courses last year.
The Chief Minister said that the Cabinet had taken a policy decision to allow pubic sector units and boards to obtain loans from the NABARD directly for rural infrastructure development programmes.
Besides, the stock source purchase manual had been revised and the finance code had been amended accordingly.
He said that 33 posts had been sanctioned to Muvattupuzha general hospital including that of doctors.
The stipend of students of Kerala Kalamandalam Deemed University would be increased from Rs.750 to Rs.1,250.
Aid for child
Mr. Chandy announced that the government would meet the treatment expenses of the eight-year-old child who had contacted AIDS following blood transfusion in Mananthavady.
The family would also be provided with five cents of land and a house.
