The Kerala State Electricity Board Engineers’ Association (KSEBEA) will celebrate Engineers’ Day on September 15 in honour of legendary engineer Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya who was born on the day in 1860.

In a statement issued here on Sunday, George Mathew, KSEBEA State general secretary said the association would observe the day across the State with seminars, workshops, and talks on ‘Engineering challenges for Knowledge Era’ on Tuesday.

Tremendous developments were taking place in the fields of science, technology and engineering across the globe and knowledge had become the new currency of national economics, the statement said. Mr. Mathew said engineers had a pre-eminent role in the knowledge economy. Innovation formed the core of new knowledge economy which had to be governed by intellectual property rights-related safeguards including cyber laws, he said.
