The 10-day annual festival at Sree Parthasarathy temple at Aranmula came to a close with the Arat ceremony on Monday.

The temple chief priest (Tantri), Thrivikraman Vasudevan Bhattathiri of Paramboor Illom, assisted by head priest (Melsanthi), P. Narayanan Namboodiri, brought down the ceremonial flag on the holy golden temple mast in the forenoon.

Procession

The Arat procession was held from the temple to the nearby Arat kadavu in the Pampa, with the accompaniments of caparisoned elephants and traditional temple percussion around 4.30 p.m.

Cultural programmes were also held in the evening.

To the Vaishnavites, the centuries’ old Aranmula Sree Parthasarathy temple is one among the 108-Tirupatis in the country.
