The Kerala Anganwadi Workers and Helpers Union, affiliated to the All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC), has accused the State government of betraying anganwadi workers by denying the hike that was announced in their wages.

Against apathy

In a statement, organisation president A.N. Rajan said that anganwadi workers would organise a dharna in front of the government Secretariat on February 8 in protest against the alleged apathy of the government.

He added that the government had failed to fulfil its promise of hiking the wages of anganwadi workers and helpers by Rs.4,400 and Rs.2,900 respectively.
