Akshaya centres that levy charges more than the stipulated rate for issuance of certificates from village offices will face stringent action.

Issuing the warning on Saturday, Akshaya District Project Office here said in a press release that there were complaints against some Akshaya centres that they were charging more than the stipulated rates for the services.

The press release also said the rates fixed for Revenue certificates such as income and caste included Rs.17 as service charge and Rs.2 per page for printout and scanning.

No separate fee should be levied for court fee stamp and application form, it said.

The release said the Kerala State IT Mission had formed a vigilance team for a State-level drive to find out if the Akshaya centres were charging more from the public for issuing the certificates. The team had begun inspection of many centres as part of the drive, the release said.

The release further said the Akshaya centres that were accepting registration fees for new Aadhaar card registration would have their Aadhaar machine registration cancelled without prior warning.

The Akshaya district office also said that a chart showing the charges for different services should be displayed at the Akshaya centres.
